HISTORY OF AJEGUNLE (Home of all tribes)
Ajegunle, popularly known as the ghetto city of Lagos State. A city located in the south of Lagos, with a population of about 555,000 people and 335 streets. It is bordered on the west by Apapa Wharf and Tincan, two of Nigeria's biggest sea ports from where over 70 percent of imported goods come into the country.

Ajegunle is one of the very few places where celebrities and very important people have originated from. Football Stars like Emmanuel Amunike, coach of Nigeria's Olympic Team, Samson Siasia; former Super Eagles ace defender Taribo West and Emmanuel Amunike, former African Footballer of the Year.

Be it as it may, Ajegunle remains the center of Nigerian's entertainment. This city holds in esteem, the likes of Danfo Drivers (musician), KcPresh (musician), Daddy Showkey (musician), Papa Fryo(musician), Caliban-Trybe(musician), Mighty Mouse (John Oboh-(musician/Producer), Marvelous Benji(musician), Rasta Levy (producer), Uncle p(musician - Current PMAN chairman, Ajegunle chapter)...and many other names in the Nigerian entertainment industries.
In the early 70's, Ajegunle was referred to as a mini Nigeria by then, the Head of Nigerian Nation, General Yakubu Gowon in his speech during his visit to Ajegunle. In reality, Ajegunle is a mini ECOWAS because not only does it consist of tribes in Nigeria, but also people from West African cities.
Ajegunle is a city that has survived attempts of being wiped out through negligence of those in position to direct its resources to its development. However, fortune seemed to have smiled on the city when it was mentioned as the headquarters of Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Area which was created in 1996. Yet it cannot be said that fortune smiled on the people because Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Area has suffered from adulterated leadership.
Before Now, the people has had three opportunities to elect their leaders. Firstly in 1997, a man by the name Abiola Ajijola, a medical practitioner who emerged as chairman Ajeromi Ifelodun.Secondly in 1999, Rabiu Oluwa a Lagos Prince, who also was the song on the third election in 2003. Despite the elections, the question people asked was, does our(Lagos) position as the largest revenue earner in terms of Federal Allocation translate to positive development? We would say your answer is as good as what was on ground in Ajegunle before the Redeemer Hon. Kamal Bayewu came into the picture and invited a rapid change of state through his dynamic leadership.
